Mum-of-6 stole milk to feed her children

A YOUNG mother was so short of cash after Christmas that she was forced to steal baby milk to feed her children, a court heard.

Patricia Keyes (29) was stopped by security staff walking out of Boots Chemist after she put boxes of baby milk in the bottom of a child's pram.

Her solicitor said that Keyes has six children, including three under three, and is struggling financially.

Judge David McHugh imposed a three month sentence but suspended it for one year. The Judge said he was taking a certain view due to the items that were stolen.

The court heard that the defendant has 20 previous convictions, mostly for road traffic matters. She has three previous theft convictions.
