Motorist who drove without lights fined

A YOUNG motorist was driving without lights when he lost control of his car and crashed into a garden wall, causing €3,500 worth of damage, a court heard.

Adam Harris (23), of Redwood Rise in Kilnamanagh, admitted criminal damage before Tallaght District Court.

The incident took place at Tamarisk Court in Tallaght on November 14, 2011.

Garda Sergeant Bernard Jones told the court that a false report was made to gardai that the car was stolen, but this charge was struck out.

Defence solicitor Jeremiah Breen said Harris previously paid €1,000 compensation for the damage and had a further €2,800 in court.

The court heard Harris has two previous convictions for theft-related matters.

Judge John Coughlan fined Harris €500 after compensation was paid to the householder.
