Mother held on armed car theft charge

A MOTHER accused of pulling a knife on a motorist and forcing him out of a vehicle has been remanded in custody.

Carol Walsh (26) and two accomplices allegedly then drove off. She is facing trial in the Circuit Court after the DPP ruled it was too serious for the District Court.

Judge Patrick McMahon remanded mother-of-one Walsh in custody until a formal bail application.

Walsh, of St Mark's Avenue in Clondalkin, appeared before Blanchardstown District Court charged with the unlawful seizure of a motor vehicle.

The alleged incident took place at Liffey Valley Fitness, Coldcut Road on January 20, 2011, and gardai have claimed the matter was captured on CCTV.

Gardai said they would be objecting to bail, citing the seriousness of the charge and the strength of the evidence.
