More time to prepare 'road-rage' charges

THE State has been given more time to prepare its case against a man accused of assaulting an English motorist who died days after an apparent road rage attack.

Karl Donohoe (29) had the case against him adjourned when he appeared in Dublin District Court on a charge of assaulting the man, who later died.

Judge Patrick McMahon remanded Donohoe on continuing bail to appear in court again in January.

Donohoe, of Fisherman's Wharf, Ringsend is charged with assault causing serious harm to construction worker Raymond Bates.

Under bail conditions, the accused had been signing on at a garda station three times a week. Judge McMahon reduced this requirement to once a week, on the request of the defendant's solicitor.
