McInerney protected

The High Court has extended court protection to five companies in the McInerney building group until the end of the week.

Mr Justice Frank Clarke said he wants more information about valuations of property owned by the troubled construction group before making his decision on whether to sanction a survival plan.

He will rule tomorrow on whether the three banks involved should be given access to confidential information about an investment proposal vital for the companies' survival.

Bank of Ireland, KBC and Anglo Irish Bank are owed €115m and are objecting to any extension of the examinership.
