Man used fake card details to get phones

A MAN tried to obtain mobile phones by using false debit card details to buy them online.

Edgar Ojo (20), of Loughnamona Park in Leixlip, admitted before Blanchardstown District Court to making gain or causing loss by deception.

Garda Lorna Wall said a representative of 3G Ireland made a complaint on April 23 last year that two iPhones, valued at €419 each, had been bought by a Michael Victor.

Gda Wall said gardai set up a controlled delivery of the phones, which were initially delivered to Oaklawn West in Leixlip, but no one at that address knew a Michael Victor.

She said the delivery driver then rang the defendant's phone who directed the phones be delivered to his home address.

Judge David McHugh ordered a probation report and adjourned sentencing to July.
