Man roared at gardai as he waved knives

AN ARMED man who was waving around two large kitchen knives in a threatening manner ended up in a two hour stand-off with gardai, a court heard.

Mark Bissett (26) repeatedly told gardai to "f*** off" and waved the knives threateningly at them.

Judge Ann Ryan adjourned the matter for six weeks for a probation report.

Bissett admitted before Dun Laoghaire District Court to two counts of possession of knives at Loughlinstown Park shortly after midnight on July 11 last year.

Garda Sergeant Peadar McCann said Bissett was shouting and roaring and his family was trying to calm him down.

Defence solicitor Ronnie Lynam said Bissett was injured and had to be treated for his injuries in hospital.

He will be sentenced next month.
