Man jailed over threat to sister

A YOUNG man who threatened his sister with a large kitchen knife during a heated row also told gardai he would "stick it in" them if they came any closer.

Dean Brennan (24) apologised, saying he had been banned from his family home since the incident.

Brennan was sentenced to four months in prison, with two months of it suspended for a year.

The defendant admitted at Blanchardstown District Court to producing a weapon during the course of a dispute in Casement Park, Finglas, on June 21 last. The court heard he had been drinking heavily.

Dad got knife after city fight

A FATHER-of-three caught fighting with another man went home to get a knife and was running down a city centre street with it when gardai arrested him.

John O'Brien (47), of Summerhill, Dublin, admitted possession of a weapon.

A probation report was ordered and the case at Dublin District Court was adjourned to November 2.

Defence solicitor Brian McKenzie said: "He appears to have been sent off the rails because of severe personal circumstances.

"He's lucky he met the garda on the night."
