Man in €100k truck theft trial

A MAN accused of handling a stolen dump truck worth €100,000 is facing trial on the charge.

Tom O'Connor (45), of Bunghara, Listowel, Co Kerry, is alleged to have handled the Volvo dump truck in early 2010.

He is facing trial by judge and jury in the Circuit Court after the DPP ruled that the matters were too serious for the District Court.

At Tallaght District Court Judge Anthony Halpin adjourned the matter for four weeks until June for the service of the book of evidence.

DAD CAUGHT

WITH COCAINE

A FATHER-of-two caught with €200 worth of cocaine for supply at his home has been given a five-month suspended sentence.

Francis Hart (35) had previously used drugs and "relapsed" after cocaine was offered to him at a party, a court heard.

Judge Victor Blake suspended the sentence for a year.

Hart, of Belmayne Park, North, Balgriffin, pleaded guilty at Dublin District Court.

The court heard he handed over the cocaine when gardai arrived and co-operated fully with them when they arrived at the house.

Hart was also fined €425.
