Man gets bail to see daughter Confirmed

A FATHER who was arrested after failing to appear in court when summoned five times in five months has been released on bail so he can attend his daughter's Confirmation.

Jason Blake (41) was ordered to sign on daily at his local garda station, and must appear before the court again next Tuesday.

Judge David McHugh released Blake in his own bond of €100 after gardai confirmed his daughter was making her Confirmation today.

ACCUSED

The accused, of Mellowes Crescent in Finglas, appeared before Blanchardstown District Court charged with failing to appear before the court on March 14.

He is also charged with five counts of stealing petrol from a Texaco and a Topaz in Finglas, on dates between June 7, 2013 and December 30, 2013.

Garda Deirdre Barry had objected to bail, saying Blake has taken five bench warrants (issued when a defendant fails to appear in court when summoned) in the last five months, and he has a history of 25 previous such warrants.

Defence solicitor Terence Hanahoe said Blake missed his last court date because he was given the wrong date by his solicitor.
