Man for trial on knife, assault charges
A MAN has been sent for trial charged with a serious assault on another man and producing a knife in the course of a dispute.
Khaled Elbahan (40) had a book of evidence served on him at Blanchardstown District Court.
The defendant, of Harrington Street, Dublin 8, is charged with assault causing harm to a man at Esker Glade, Lucan.
He is further charged with producing a knife in the course of a dispute in a manner likely to intimidate while committing an assault.
The offences are alleged to have happened on July 27 last year.
A state solicitor said the DPP was consenting to the case being sent for trial to the present sittings of Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. The DPP had directed trial on indictment.
Judge David McHugh gave the accused the formal notice that he must provide any alibi details within 14 days.
He also made an order for disclosure of copies of the accused's garda interview.

The judge granted free legal aid after barrister Jennifer Jackson handed in a statement of Mr Elbahan's financial means and Sgt Maria Callaghan said she had no objections.
The defendant was remanded on bail on existing terms with an added condition that he must stay away from any prosecution witnesses.
He has not yet indicated how he intends to plead to the charges.
