Man faces jury trial over theft of €15k car

A DUBLIN man has appeared in court charged with stealing two sets of keys to a car and then helping another man steal the vehicle, worth €15,000.

Matthew Fahy (34) is facing trial by judge and jury in the Circuit Court after the matters were considered to be too serious for the District Court.

Judge John Lindsay adjourned the matter for three weeks for the service of the book of evidence, and marked it peremptory against the State.

Fahy, with addresses at Cappagh Avenue and Prospect Hill apartments, both in Finglas, appeared before Blanchardstown District Court charged with stealing two sets of remote control locking keys, worth €600, for a Volkswagen Passat.

The alleged incident took place at Derek Burton's 4x4 Garage in Kilpedder, Co Wicklow, on January 29, 2010.

Fahy is also accused of aiding or abetting another individual to steal a Volkswagen Passat, worth €15,450, on January 30.

Judge Lindsay remanded Fahy on continuing bail to appear before Blanchardstown court on December 1.
