Man faces €13k drugs trial

A JOBLESS man, who was allegedly caught by detectives twice within 24 hours with around €13,000 worth of cannabis, has appeared before the court on drugs charges.

Owen Comerford (20) is facing trial by judge and jury in the Circuit Court after the DPP directed the charges were too serious for the District Court.

Comerford, of Trafalgar Terrace in Monkstown, appeared before Dun Laoghaire District Court charged with possession of cannabis, as well as having the drug for sale or supply.

The alleged incident took place at Blackthorn Avenue in Sandyford on April 7 last year.

And in a follow-up search by gardai the next day, April 8, it is alleged Comerford was found in possession of cannabis and BZP pills at an apartment at Blackglen Road, Dublin 18.

Judge Ann Ryan adjourned the matter for six weeks for the service of the book of evidence.
