MAN CHARGED WITH HAVING €2K CANNABIS IN CAR

A man had €2,000 worth of cannabis on him when a car he was in was stopped by gardai, it has been alleged.

Edvinas Gruzdas (25) had the case against him adjourned when he appeared in Blanchard-stown District Court on a drug dealing charge.

Gruzdas, with an address at The Way, Dunboyne Castle, Co Meath is charged with possession of cannabis herb with intent to sell or supply.

The offence is alleged to have happened on October 25 last year. Outlining the prosecution's case, Sgt Maria Callaghan said gardai stopped a vehicle at the Ongar Distributor Road. It was alleged they could detect a strong smell of cannabis coming from the vehicle and searched it.

ADMITTED

The defendant admitted having drugs on his person and lifted his T-shirt to reveal a large package of cannabis.

The case was adjourned until February 27.
