Man broke wine and beer bottles in shop row
A YOUNG man smashed more than €200 worth of bottles of wine and beer in a supermarket when he got into a dispute over payment for food.
Darren Boyd (21) pulled bottles down from the shelf during a verbal argument with staff, a court heard.
Boyd, of Dingle Road, Cabra, pleaded guilty to criminal damage at Centra in Cabra on October 11, 2014. Judge Bryan Smyth jailed him for six months.
Boyd also admitted separate criminal damage and public order charges.
In one incident, a garda took the accused out of Court 4 in the Criminal Courts of Justice on December 12, 2013.
Swung
In the main hall, he swung out at the garda and was arrested for breach of the peace and obstruction.
On July 7, 2013 he was among a group of youths drinking at Broomfield Road, Cabra. When gardai arrived, he became aggressive, threw a bottle at them and ran off.
He also pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage to the front window of a house at Howth Road on July 13, 2013.
The court heard a description was given of the culprit wearing blue shorts, sunglasses and no top.
They found the accused walking in front of traffic, with cars having to drive around him.
Boyd had been abusing alcohol and tablets at the time of the offences.
