Man (44) admits having child porn at his home

A SOUTH Dublin man has pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography at his home.

Ronan Phelan (44) is alleged to have had the images at his address in Dublin 4 when it was searched by gardai.

He had the case against him at Dublin District Court adjourned for a probation report to be brought to court.

He was remanded on continuing bail.

Phelan, of Sandymount Court, Beach Road, Dublin 4, is charged with one count of possession of child pornography. The offence, under Section 6 of the Child Trafficking and Pornography Act 1998 happened at his home on dates between June 1, 2006 and June 24, 2009.

The case has been before the court several times after Judge Cormac Dunne accepted jurisdiction to deal with the charge at district court level.

It had been adjourned for the production of pre-sentence reports. Judge Hamill adjourned the case to September 13. The defendant did not address the court.
