Man (24) faces trial accused of assaulting woman with crowbar

A man has appeared in court charged with assaulting a woman with a crowbar.

Lee Collins (24) is alleged to have produced the crowbar during the course of a fight at a house in west Dublin.

Collins, of St Peter's Court in Drogheda, Co Louth, appeared before Blanchardstown District Court.

The alleged incident took place at Rathvilly Drive in Finglas last August 7. Collins is also accused of producing a crowbar during the course of a fight.

A State solicitor said the DPP has directed trial on indictment in the circuit court.

Defence solicitor Simon Fleming said there was consent to a six-week adjournment.

Judge David McHugh remanded Collins on continuing bail to appear before the court again in June for the service of the book of evidence.

The court heard Collins is unemployed and on social welfare.
