Lovelorn man kicked window

A DRUNKEN painter and decorator who kicked and lashed out at the window of a pizza shop was upset after splitting up with his girlfriend, a court heard.

Carl Quinn (28) of Rossfield Park in Tallaght, ran when he saw gardai, but was caught after a short chase on foot.

He admitted before Tallaght District Court to public drunkenness and threatening and abusive behaviour on Main Street, Tallaght, at around 2am on April 25.

He apologised for his behaviour, saying he got drunk after he broke up with his girlfriend.

A judge ordered Quinn to complete the offender reparation programme and said he would apply the Probation Act.



Dad threw pub stool over bar

A DRUNKEN pubgoer lifted a bar stool over his head and threw it behind the bar causing over €400 worth of damage after bar staff told him to go home.

Gerard Mooney (41) said he was on the second day of a drinking binge when he threw the stool.

The father-of-four, of Doon Court, Ballymun, admitted before Blanchardstown District Court to the incident The Towers Pub in Ballymun on April 6 last.

He also admitted to public drunkenness and threatening and abusive behaviour

A judge ordered him to pay €500 compensation to the pub and adjourned sentencing for three months.



Heroin-stash addict jailed

A FORMER resident of an industrial school who was in possession of heroin has been given a three year sentence, with the final year suspended.

Chronic drug addict Philip Kerfoot (39), of Captain's Drive in Crumlin, pleaded guilty before Judge Frank O'Donnell at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to possession of €1,800 worth of heroin at Derry Drive in Crumlin on June 7, 2007.

His co-accused David Atkinson (41) of Windmill Park, who also pleaded guilty to the offence, is to be sentenced on July 29 next and was remanded in custody.
