A FATHER-of-one who drunkenly attacked an off-licence employee, punching her in the face across the counter, has been jailed for three months.
James Doherty (31) hit the woman with a closed fist after she asked him to leave for roaring abuse and trying to start fights with customers.
He had no recollection and was "shocked" at his own behaviour when video footage was played back to him, Blanchardstown District Court heard.
Doherty, of Oldcastle Park Green, admitted assaulting Victoria Alexander, public drunkenness and causing a breach of the peace at Carry Out off licence, Ninth Lock Road, Clondalkin, on August 30.
Sgt Maria O'Callaghan said he was drunk and abusive to customers when he went to the shop at 6.20pm.
He eventually left but came back and began shouting abuse again before punching Ms Alexander.
Defence said Doherty had been at a funeral the day before and had no recollection of the incident.
He was attending an adult literacy class but had no means to offer compensation.
