In brief: Youth in court over muggings

A YOUTH allegedly stole a car from a Dublin tennis club and mugged four youths at a train station, within two weeks, the Children's Court has heard.

The 17-year-old boy, with an address in Co Kildare, is accused of four counts of robbery, at Killiney Dart station on September 4 last and theft of an 05-reg car from Monkstown Tennis club in Dublin, on September 15 last.

He is also charged with attempted robbery of a teenage boy travelling on a bus, in Killiney, on September 1 last.

Judge Elizabeth MacGrath remanded him on bail to appear again next month when he is to enter pleas.

Teen accused of sexual assault

A PSYCHIATRIC assessment of a youth who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman after she asked him for directions is to be funded by the legal aid board, a court had heard.

Judge Elizabeth MacGrath was told at the Dublin Children's Court that an agreement had been reached over who would pay for the assessment to be carried out by a psychiatrist from the Granada Institute for sexual offenders.

The now 18-year-old has been charged with sexual assault of the woman, in south Dublin, on a date last March.

Judge MacGrath adjourned the case for four weeks.
