In brief: Court boy with 40 convictions

A 16-YEAR-OLD Dublin boy who has more than 40 criminal convictions has been detained for three months for stealing mopeds.

Last year, the north Dublin boy was placed on six months probation after he admitted a breach of the peace charge.

This related to a "prank" where pelting eggs at a house in East Wall, in Dublin, led to the fatal shooting of owner Aidan O'Kane. Another youth has since been detained for seven years for the killing.

Judge Clare Leonard imposed three-months' detention sentence on the teen for stealing a motorbike.

Facebook sued for damages

Facebook has been accused by users of the site in a lawsuit of secretly tracking their web activity after they log off.

The company has assured users that "cookie" files installed on their computers to identify them are removed when they log off, according to a complaint in federal court in California. The users are seeking damages.
