Husband goes on trial accused of former Bond girl Celine's murder

THE trial of a Dublin man accused of killing his wife, a former model and Bond girl, is to get underway in the Central Criminal Court today.

Eamon Lillis (52) of Rowan Hill, Windgate Road, Howth, denies murdering 46-year-old mother-of-one Celine Cawley on December 15, 2008. A jury is due to be selected today for the trial, which is expected to last up to three weeks.

The businesswoman was found lying on the patio of her home in with head injuries. She was given first aid at the scene and was taken to Beaumont Hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

Officers arrived at the premises on Windgate Road, shortly after 10am that morning, in response to a 999 call made to the fire brigade.

Four days after the discovery of the body, Mr Lillis was arrested and charged with the murder.

Celine Cawley, a former model who had a minor role in the Bond movie, A View to a Kill, lived at her Howth home with her husband and their daughter Georgia.

Ms Cawley was the founder and managing director of Toytown Films, a successful television company which produced adverts for major global brands since 1990. Her husband also worked for the award-winning company as a producer.

The couple and their daughter were also well known locally.
