Hector's brother in x85k gay club win

A BROTHER of TV star Hector O hEochagain has won €85,000 compensation for unfair dismissal from a gay club.

Mark Keogan was dismissed as manager of The George Pub and Nightclub in Georges Street, Dublin, in September 2009.

Keogan (left), of Kells Road, Navan, Co Meath, sued Vikram Ltd, which trades as Capital Bars, owner of The George and two other Dublin bar clubs, all of which are now in receivership.

The Circuit Civil Court heard that the Employment Appeals Tribunal had decided Mr Keogan had been unfairly dismissed and directed he be reinstated in his job.

The receiver appealed the EAT decision, saying a reinstatement order was not enforceable as there was no such position available for him.

The court ruled that Mr Keogan was entitled to compensation.
