Grieving teen ends up in court

A TEENAGER who shouted verbal abuse at gardai was very upset after his best friend took his own life, a court heard.

Glen Bolger's breach of the peace occurred on the same day that his best friend died.

Judge Anthony Halpin imposed a peace bond for one year, saying he was giving Bolger one final chance.

The 18-year-old defendant, of Kilcarrig Green in Fettercairn, admitted before Tallaght District Court to threatening and abusive behaviour.

Garda Sergeant Carmel Henry said gardai were called to Suncroft Park in Tallaght shortly before 6am on November 4.

Sgt Henry said Bolger was very aggressive and verbally abusive towards gardai.

The court heard Bolger has 43 previous convictions, mostly for road traffic offences.

Defence solicitor Kevin Tunney said the incident took place on the day that Bolger's best friend committed suicide.
