Girl (17) accused of bottle assault

A 17-YEAR-OLD girl who allegedly smashed a glass bottle over a man's head has been remanded on bail at the Dublin Children's Court.

The girl, who is in care and has admitted to having a drug problem, has been charged with two counts of robbery, attempted robbery and assault causing harm, which allegedly happened in the O'Connell Street area on August 3, 5 and 9 last.

She had been refused bail last month at the Dublin Children's Court but was later granted High Court bail.

Judge Eamon O'Brien remanded the teen on bail to appear later this month pending directions from the DPP.

Garda James King had said earlier that the girl was "out of control" and during the alleged attempted robbery of a woman she threatened to knife her.

He also said that a male was left needing stitches after the girl allegedly struck him to his head with a glass bottle.
