Foul-mouthed reveller avoids conviction
A party-goer who called gardai "f**king pigs, c***s and w***ers" after they stopped her carrying a bottle of whiskey has been left without a conviction.
Lyndsey Edmunds (24) tried to headbutt and bite officers following her arrest and had to be restrained.
Judge David McHugh applied the Probation Act after Edmunds wrote a letter of apology, donated €50 to Blanchardstown Hospice and completed 10 hours of voluntary work.
The defendant, of Sheephill Avenue, Blanchardstown, had admitted to public drunkenness and a breach of the peace at Sheephill Green last April 12.
Gda Mark Quill told Blanchardstown District Court he met Edmunds shortly after 10am. She was very drunk and carrying a bottle of whiskey.
He said she immediately started screaming obscenities, calling gardai "f**king pigs, c***s and w***ers".
She was arrested and taken to Blanchardstown Garda Station, where she tried to headbutt and bite gardai.
Edmunds had to be physically restrained and was placed in a station cell, where she continued to be aggressive and bang on the cell door.

The court heard Edmunds has no previous convictions.
Solicitor Margaret McEvilly said Edmunds, a mother-of-one, was leaving a party and heading to another.
Her poor behaviour kicked off because she was arrested, said Ms McEvilly, adding that Edmunds "had no idea why" she had behaved in such a manner.
