Fireworks accused faces trial

A YOUNG man who was allegedly caught with 100 rounds of ammunition as well as a quantity of fireworks in a Dublin warehouse has been sent forward for trial.

Damien Noonan (24) is accused of having fireworks, including flying dragons, star seekers and dragons fury, for sale without a licence.

Noonan, of Rusheeny Court in Hartstown, appeared before Blanchardstown District Court also charged with possession of 100 rounds of Luger calibre ammunition at Rosemount Business Park in Ballycoolin.

It is alleged that he did not have the ammunition for a lawful purpose in the incident on September 3, 2009.

A court previously heard that the DPP had directed trial on indictment on the charges.

Noonan, who is unemployed, goes forward to the next sittings of Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
