A FATHER-of-one who had €800 worth of heroin on him "to share with his friends" has been jailed for six months.
Anthony Ward (27) was sentenced after Dublin District Court heard he already had six previous drugs convictions.
Ward, of Sperrin Road, Drimnagh, pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of heroin with intent to supply in the incident in the south inner city on July 29 last year.
The court heard Garda Sean McBride was on duty at 11.05am when he stopped the accused to search him. He ran away and when he was caught and searched, he had the heroin on him.
The drug was in individual bags and the accused made full admissions to gardai.
He already had four convictions for possession of drugs and another two for possession with intent to sell or supply.
