Father fined over fist fight New dad says no more drugs

A FATHER-of-three who got into a fist fight with another man while watched by nearly a dozen spectators has been told by a judge that he is lucky the fight didn't escalate into a general brawl.

James Connors (30) said he and the other man have apologised to each other.

Connors admitted before Tallaght District Court to threatening and abusive behaviour outside his home, at Stocking Hill, Stocking Avenue, Rathfarnham, shortly before 2am on November 1 last.

The judge fined him €500.

New dad says no more drugs

A RECREATIONAL drug user has claimed that he is a changed man since he became a father seven months ago and he has promised never to touch cannabis again.

Matthew McCormack (23) said the birth of his first child "changed" him, and using cannabis was a phase which he is now over.

McCormack, of Valley View, River Valley in Swords, admitted before Swords District Court to possession of cannabis resin. The drug had a street value of €70.

The incident took place at Ashton Court, Swords on December 15, 2008.

The judge ordered him to complete 100 hours community service in lieu of four months in prison.
