Ex-councillor in hospital on bail Attacker was on 'drugs cocktail'

An ex-councillor charged with accepting money to vote for rezoning of lands in Carrickmines, Dublin, has been remanded on bail after Dublin District Court heard he is in hospital.

Sean Gilbride (69) of Greenlawns, Skerries, had replied "not guilty" when he was charged on October 23 last. However, Judge Patrick McMahon heard that he could not be served with a book of evidence as he is in hospital.

Attacker was on 'drugs cocktail'

A woman who took a "cocktail" of drink and drugs after she discovered her grandmother was terminally ill assaulted a garda.

Joanne Hand (23), of Parlickstown Gardens in Mulhuddart, admitted before Blanchardstown District Court to assaulting two gardai, and to public drunkenness and threatening and abusive behaviour.

Sentencing was adjourned.
