Duo admit handling stolen goods at Ikea
TWO women who took a bag of household goods from Ikea without paying have admitted handling stolen property.
Kim Guerin (24) and Lindsay Roche (30) had already bought other goods, but left with more items they did not pay for.
Dublin District Court heard gardai were called to Ikea after it was reported that two women had taken items, placed them into a blue holdall bag and left without paying.
The women were stopped by security staff, but were released after they became aggressive. They later made themselves known to the gardai and admitted their involvement under caution.
Recovered
The property was recovered in a saleable condition.
The court heard Guerin had three previous convictions and Roche had none.
They had bought a large amount of other items on the day, which they had legitimately paid for, their solicitor Tracey Horan said.
Guerin had just given birth at the time and had vertigo. The accused - both of The Square, Larch Hill, Santry - pleaded guilty to handling stolen household items worth €85 on February 9 last. Judge Grainne O'Neill gave Guerin a three-month suspended sentence.
The judge said she would dismiss Roche's case under the Probation Act if she paid €250 to charity.
