Dumbrell phone robbery case delayed

GARDAI cannot find a witness in the case of a woman charged with stealing a mobile phone and cash in a 2007 robbery, a court heard.

Leon Dumbrell (32) from Emmett Road, Inchicore, is accused of stealing a pink Nokia mobile phone worth €175 as well as €42.50 in cash in Francis Street in March three years ago.

When the trial was due to start last November, the Circuit Criminal Court was told there was a difficulty in serving a witness summons on someone who would give identification evidence.

A lawyer for the DPP told Judge Katherine Delahunt that gardai were still having difficulty in finding the witness. In addition, the injured party now wanted to withdraw their complaint.

The DPP lawyer asked for the case to be mentioned again on February 23. The judge remanded Dumbrell on continuing bail to that date.
