dumbrell brother on knife possession charge

A YOUNGER brother of convicted murderers Warren and Jeffrey Dumbrell has pleaded not guilty to possession of a knife.

Leroy Dumbrell (26) denied the single count of unlawful possession of a weapon. The case was adjourned.

His brothers are both serving life sentences for stabbing a father to death in front of his wife and children in a Dublin flats complex in 2006.

Leroy Dumbrell is one of two men accused of possession of knives at Blanchardstown District Court.

Dumbrell, of Emmet Road, Inchicore, is charged with unlawfully having one knife, while his co-accused, Robert Hand (22), with an address at Lissmore Road, Kimmage, is accused of having three.

The incident is alleged to have happened at Alymer Road, Newcastle, Co Dublin on February 6.

JURISDICTION

The court heard the DPP was directing summary disposal of the charge at district court level.

Judge David McHugh accepted jurisdiction to deal with the cases.

The court heard both men were pleading not guilty and the judge adjourned the cases to a date next month.
