Two men were remanded in custody when they appeared in court yesterday charged with three counts of false imprisonment in relation to an alleged incident in west Dublin last June.

Declan Duffy (42) appeared before Blanchardstown District Court where he faced three separate charges of false imprisonment at The Towers, Garters Lane, Saggart, last June 9.

Duffy, of Hanover Street West, in Dublin's south inner city, was also charged with violent disorder on the same date and at the same location.

Evidence of arrest, charge and caution in Duffy's case was given by Sgt Maeve O' Sullivan of Clondalkin Garda Station.

His co-accused, Christopher Maguire (37), of Dunboyne Castle, Dunboyne, Co Meath, was also charged with three separate charges of false imprisonment at the same location in Saggart last June 9.

Maguire, who had a previous address in Lusk, north Co Dublin, was not charged with violent disorder.

Evidence of his arrest, charge and caution was given by Gda Ronan O' Malley of Rathcoole Garda Station.

The brief court appearances were before Judge John Lindsay, who remanded Duffy and Maguire in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court on Thursday.

Bail applications may take place at that hearing.

Duffy and Maguire were first arrested on Saturday. They were questioned and then charged in separate west Dublin stations on Sunday before being brought to court yesterday morning.

It is understood that the charges are linked to incidents 15 minutes apart on the morning of last June 9. In one of these, a 40-year-old man was allegedly rushed to Hospital.
