Dubliner produced hatchet in hotel row - court claim

A MAN accused of threatening to kill the manager of a Dublin hotel has asked gardai to provide CCTV footage of the alleged incident, saying it could be vital to his defence.

John Vickers (40) is alleged to have threatened to kill or cause harm to the operations manager of the Waterside House Hotel in Donabate.

He is also alleged to have assaulted a second man and to have produced a hatchet during the course of the alleged incident at the hotel on June 19.

Vickers, of St Donagh's Road, Donaghmede, is also charged with failing to stop for gardai and to dangerous driving again on June 19.

Defence lawyer, Diana Stuart, asked to be furnished with CCTV footage of the alleged incident, saying a garda witness said, in her statement, that she viewed CCTV footage.

Garda Michael Doherty told the court that he asked for CCTV footage but was told that it was not available.

Judge Brady adjourned the case to next week. He ordered that the garda who said she looked at CCTV footage be present in court.
