DUBLIN MAN ACCUSED OF PRODUCING KNIFE DURING ASSAULT REMANDED ON BAIL

A MAN charged with assaulting and injuring a woman in an incident at a house in Dublin has been remanded on continuing bail.

Thomas Dowling (36) is also accused of producing a knife in the course of an assault.

Judge David McHugh adjourned the case against him for a month when he appeared at Blanchardstown District Court.

Mr Dowling, with an address at Barrack Lane, Finglas, is charged with assault causing harm to a woman at a house at Cappagh Road, also in Finglas, last June 24.

He is also charged with producing a knife while committing an assault in the same incident.

A state solicitor said the DPP was directing summary disposal of the case in the district court on a guilty plea only.

This means that if the defendant is contesting the charge it will be sent for trial by judge and jury to Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

The accused has not yet indicated how he intends to plead to the charges.
