Drunken reveller shouted at gardai

A CHRISTENING party reveller was arrested when he refused to stop drinking for gardai investigating a disturbance, then hurled abuse at them when they took his drink off him.

Keith Wall (20) was charged with public order offences after he refused to move on and shouted insults at officers.

Judge Bridget Reilly said she would leave him without convictions if he made a €200 donation to charity.

Wall, of Rathsallagh Park, Shankill, admitted charges of breach of the peace and failing to obey garda directions.

Dun Laoghaire District Court heard gardai went to investigate an incident at 12.30am at Monkstown Grove on April 30, 2010.

Wall was drinking from a bottle of vodka and gardai told him to dispose of it and leave. He continued to drink in front of them and they seized the bottle and told him to go. He refused and began cursing at them, the court heard.
