Drunk motorist hit pedestrian

A YOUNG pedestrian broke his ankle after a drunk driver crashed onto a footpath and knocked him down, a court heard.

Nikolaj Domascenko (46) was over twice the legal drink driving limit, Blanchardstown District Court was told.

He apologised for his behaviour, saying he had been drinking after he discovered his older brother, who has cancer, was terminally ill.

Judge David McHugh fined Domascenko, of Bushfield Drive, Clondalkin, €250, banned him from driving for three years and imposed a three-month sentence suspended for six months.

SHOPPER STOLE

€46 COSMETICS

A SHOPPER who stole cosmetics from a pharmacy has claimed she was on heavy medication at the time.

Angela Mongan (26), of Kishogue Park, Lucan, paid for some items but walked out of the store with an unpaid-for jar of hand cream worth €46.

Blanchardstown District Court heard she had a serious brain operation last year and that her medication caused her strange behaviour.

Judge David McHugh imposed a one-month sentence, suspended for six months.
