Drunk man had row with wife in taxi

A NEW Year's Eve reveller shouted abuse at gardai after a taxi driver brought him to a garda station following an argument with his wife in the back of the cab.

Michael Ward (22) took exception to gardai getting involved in what he believed was a domestic matter.

Judge David McHugh imposed a three month sentence but suspended it for two years. He warned Ward to bring an overnight bag with him if he appears before him in the next two years.

The defendant, of Morgan Place in Blanchardstown, admitted before Blanchardstown District Court to public drunkenness and threatening and abusive behaviour.

The court heard dad of two Ward has 19 previous convictions, including previous for public order matters.
