DRUNK EX-MILKMAN KICKED OFF CAR MIRRORS OVER ROW

A FORMER milkman who kicked off the wing mirrors of a car belonging to a petrol station attendant was found slumped round the corner muttering about a packet of crisps, a court heard.

Keith Mooney (23) was very drunk and wasn't making any sense when gardai found him.

Judge Bridget Reilly ordered a probation report to see if Mooney is suitable for community service and adjourned sentencing until May.

The defendant, of Broadford Walk in Ballinteer, admitted before Dun Laoghaire District Court to charges of public drunkenness and criminal damage.

ALTERCATION

GARDA KARL O'NEILL SAID THERE WAS A VERBAL ALTERCATION BETWEEN MOONEY AND A SHOP ASSISTANT AT THE LATE-NIGHT HATCH AT APPLEGREEN IN BALLINTEER AROUND 1AM ON JUNE 6 LAST YEAR.

Gda O'Neill said Mooney then kicked the wing mirrors off the shop assistant's 2001-registered vehicle, leaving them hanging by the wires.

The total damage was €452.

The garda said he found Mooney around the corner from the petrol station. He was very drunk and was lying on the ground.

Defence solicitor Jonathan Dunphy said Mooney co-operated fully with gardai and did not cause them any trouble.

The solicitor said the defendant, a former milkman, is single and lives at home with his parents and siblings.
