Drug dealer sent to jail for four months

A DRUG dealer caught for the fourth time for selling and supplying drugs has been sentenced to four months in prison.

Sean Mooney (32) was found in possession of 28 separate deals of heroin worth €660 when his home was searched by gardai.

Mooney, of Barry Park in Finglas, pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of heroin at his home address on November 10, 2014.

He further pleaded guilty to being in unlawful possession of the drugs for sale or supply.

Garda Siobhan Tolan said Mooney, who has 26 previous convictions, including three for unlawful possession of drugs for sale or supply, made full admissions.

Defence solicitor John O'Doherty said the married man, who wants to start a family of his own, left school at 15 and has battled a drug problem in the past.

Judge David McHugh said he considered whether to give Mooney the opportunity to do community service work in lieu of a prison sentence. However, he said he is satisfied that a four-month prison sentence is more suitable for Mooney because of his previous convictions.

"At the end of the day he is supplying and dealing in death and this is now his fourth conviction," said Judge McHugh.
