A MOTORIST allegedly found with a stun gun, baton and pepper spray in his car is facing trial on weapons charges.
Arturs Obolevics (33) had the case against him adjourned for the preparation of a book of evidence when he appeared in Dublin District Court.
The case is to be sent for jury trial after Judge Cormac Dunne said it was too serious to be dealt with in the District Court.
Obolevics, of Cluain Ri, Ashbourne, Co Meath, is charged with possession of the stun gun, incapacitant spray and extendible baton at North Circular Road on May 13, 2011.
The court heard it was alleged that gardai stopped the defendant's Mercedes, spoke to him and initially searched the vehicle under drugs legislation.
A baton was allegedly found concealed in a compartment under the driver's seat.
He was asked to step out and officers then allegedly found the other items in the boot.
Judge Dunne refused jurisdiction to deal with the charges after hearing the outline of the prosecution's case.
He adjourned the case to December 16, for the service of a book of evidence.
