Driver had crowbar en-route to robbery

A LABOURER caught driving without insurance while in possession of a crowbar he planned to use in a theft has been jailed for four months.

Padraig Murphy was also fined €800 and banned from the roads for four years.

The 28-year-old, of Lindisfarne Green, Clondalkin, was arrested in Hanstead Close, Lucan, last March 29 after gardai were called about a suspicious vehicle in the estate.

He admitted his car was uninsured and pleaded guilty to having articles for use in a theft.

Blanchardstown District Court was told Murphy has 24 convictions, including one for driving without insurance.

Simon Fleming, defending, said his client had three children and asked judge David McHugh for a community services order. But the judge said a prison term was appropriate.
