A woman charged with dangerous driving, causing a crash which resulted in the death of her four friends, has had her trial date set for January 30.

Dayna Kearney (22) appeared before Kildare Circuit Court in Naas yesterday.

Ms Kearney, of Crossneen, Carlow, was driving a car that was involved in a collision with a van at Burtown, near Athy, Co Kildare, on January 6, 2015.

Her four passengers - friends Gemma Nolan (19), Charmaine Carroll (20) and Niamh Doyle (19), all from Carlow, and Aisling Middleton (19), from Athy - died in the crash.

Ms Kearney was seriously injured, while the van driver and his passenger were injured.

The court was previously told a jury will be required.

Prosecution barrister Daniel Boland said yesterday that the trial will be ready to proceed on January 30.

He had no objection to Ms Kearney being remanded on continuing bail on the same terms and conditions.

Judge Michael O'Shea remanded her on continuing bail until January 30.
