Designer a danger to traffic

A GRAPHIC designer ran into the path of oncoming traffic on a busy city street while evading arrest for a drunken episode, a court heard.

Jan Peska (27) was fined €300 for public order offences during the incident.

Peska, with an address at the North Circular Road, pleaded guilty to public drunkenness, breach of the peace, obstructing a garda and being drunk and a danger to traffic on July 27.

Dublin District Court heard that gardai on duty at the North Circular Road saw Peska, who was highly intoxicated, purposely standing out in front of traffic at 10.40am.

He has previous convictions for public order, criminal damage and weapons offences. Peska is originally from Prague and has been living here for five years, his solicitor said.

He had lost his job and was now on social welfare.
