A YOUNG man who has battled a drug addiction for nearly a decade was caught with lumps of cannabis hidden in the back of his jeans.
Carl Wilson (24) admitted he was "swapping" the drug with his friends.
A judge fined him €500, warning him that he was "very close to the front door of the jail", and that if he continued to offend he faced a prison sentence.
Wilson, of Brookview Walk in Tallaght, admitted before Tallaght District Court to possession of cannabis resin for sale or supply.
The incident took place at Rathfarnham Garda Station on October 4 last year. The street value of the drug was €276.
The court heard that Wilson has 13 previous convictions.
