Dad stashed drugs at his girlfriend's home

A FATHER of three who hid his drugs in his girlfriend's home has been told by a judge that he put her in danger by storing them there.

Judge James McDonnell said it could not have been a pleasant experience for Sean Haide's girlfriend when gardai raided her house.

The judge said 25-year-old Haide put her in danger, and she was an innocent caught up in the incident.

His lawyer said Haide immediately took responsibility for the drugs. The defendant, of Bawnlea Avenue in Tallaght, admitted before Tallaght District Court to possession of cannabis herb and cannabis resin.

Detective Garda William Brennan said gardai searched a house at Sundale Meadows in Tallaght on April 8 last year, and found cannabis hidden in a press in the kitchen. The street value of the drugs was €140.

The court heard that Haide had 23 previous convictions, and recently served a three-month sentence.

Judge McDonnell said Haide had a responsibility to his partner and children, and he needed to be there for them.

The judge said he hated to see a waste of a life, and he hated to see children grow up without a father. He fined Haide €500.
