Dad-of-five hurled abuse when his car was seized
Gardai said a member of the public found the body at about 6.30am today at Cherry Orchard Parade in the Ballyfermot area
A MOTORIST who asked another man to drive him home after he had drinks in a pub became aggressive when gardai seized the car because the driver was not insured.
Patrick Stokes (38) was "confused" and became agitated when gardai took the car, Dublin District Court heard.
Judge Dermot Dempsey fined him €200 for public order offences.
Stokes, a father-of-five of Montini Road, Roncalli, Sutton, pleaded guilty to using threatening, abusive and insulting behaviour to cause a breach of the peace.
He also admitted failing to obey garda directions in the incident at Botanic Road, Glasnevin on November 28 last year.
Insurance
The court heard the defendant had been in a car that was stopped and seized by gardai.
The car had passed its annual NCT and was taxed. The accused had insurance for it but the driver did not, Stokes' lawyer explained.
"He doesn't appear to have understood that concept," she said.
The prosecuting garda accepted that the accused had been confused and thought the car was covered.
"He accepts he was aggressive and he apologises, it was somewhat out of character," Stokes' lawyer said. The defendant said he had apologised to the gardai.
