Dad had €79k worth of pills

A FATHER of three has been jailed for two years for transporting €79,000 worth of prescription tablets.

Keith Connolly (28), of Eden Court Shopping Centre, Raheny, appeared in Limerick Circuit Criminal Court today before Judge Carroll Moran,

Connolly was stopped by gardai on November 30, 2009, at Castle Og's Hotel, Castleconnell, Co Limerick.

Gda David Boland said Connolly had ferried the drugs from Dublin to Limerick by train, and got a taxi to Castleconnell. A total of 9,600 Valium tablets, and 29,000 Xanax tablets were found.

A co-accused, Brian Scanlon, has already received a five-year prison sentence.
