A FATHER-of-three was found in possession of a handgun and ammunition following an operation involving the Garda air support unit, a court heard.
Derek McLoughlin (38) is accused of having a .38 revolver and ammunition for unlawful purposes at his home in Ballyfermot.
He was remanded in custody when he appeared at Dublin District Court.
McLoughlin is accused of possessing the gun and ammunition at his home at Decies Road, Ballyfermot, on April 27.
Garda Gavin Ryan told the court he arrested McLoughlin at Decies Road at 10.50pm on April 27. He made no reply when charged.
The court heard gardai went to McLoughlin's address with a warrant for a drugs search at around 9.30pm.
They were assisted by the Garda air support unit, with the helicopter filming the events. It was alleged the accused was in the back garden and was found in possession of the gun and ammunition, as well as a container of oil spray.
The items were found as a result of the support of the Garda helicopter. He was remanded in custody, with consent to bail, to appear in Cloverhill District Court on May 7.
